In this talk, I will share some lessons I learned the last 6 years, from the start of my PhD to my current permanent position as a research scientist in a French institute. I will discuss unexpected research topics, handling paper rejections and being on the job market for academic positions. I will also reflect on my personal commitments around diversity, environment, and work-life balance.
